The instruction is not very good - there are a lot of extra pieces in the pack ....so I walked a little different path compared with the instruction ...added some more buttons etc...here are the photos:

"In 1985, Friedman produced a seminal work on the newly emerging synthesizer industry called Complete Guide to Synthesizers, Sequencers, and Drum Machines. Whilst dated, this tome is still of use in evaluating devices that crop up on the second-hand market. Friedman also set up the "New York School of Synthesis" and provided a series of videos entitled "Intro to Synthesis". Friedman presents the rudiments of this topic in an audio-visual format, whilst incorporating a unique sense of humor." Note the videos must be from 1988 or later as they reference the Korg M1. Thanks goes to Caixa in the comments for catching this.

Robotnick began his musical career during the late ‘70s with visions of being an electronic cabaret singer. He mixed jazz and its influences from punk and new wave groups to deliver his very own take on early 80’s dancefloor. He began his musical career with a Roland TR-808 and a TB-303 and laid down some electro before recording some disco tunes to make a quick buck and crafted seminal hugely influential disco hits like ‘Problemes d’Amour’; sold 10,000 copies way back in ’83; and went on to influence Chicago house and Detroit techno along the way, becoming became a true “cult” of electronic dance music. He followed the sublime ‘Dance Boy Dance’ plus the killer electro of ‘Hola Macci Kola’ - tracks which have influenced practically anyone involved with electronic dance music over the last 25 years. His status continued to rise due to both his visionary productions and his flamboyancy behind the turntables, and in the 1990s he experimented with more esoteric, ethno-fuelled projects such as Masala and The Third Planet. He now resides in the same palace of bonafide dance music legends as A Guy Called Gerald or Arthur Russell.

Zbigniew Karkowski
Zbigniew Karkowski was born in 1958 in Krakow, Poland. He studied composition at the State College of Music in Gothenburg, Sweden, aesthetics of modern music at the University of Gothenburg's Department of Musicology, and computer music at the Chalmers University of Technology. After completing his studies in Sweden, he studied sonology for a year at the Royal Conservatory of Music in Den Haag, Netherlands. During his education, he also attended many summer composition master courses arranged by Centre Acanthes in Avignon and Aix-en-Provence, France, studying with Iannis Xenakis, Olivier Messiaen, Pierre Boulez, and Georges Aperghis, among others. He works actively as a composer of both acoustic and electroacoustic music. He has written pieces for large orchestra (commissioned and performed by the Gothenburg Symphony Orchestra), plus an opera and several chamber music pieces that were performed by professional ensembles in Sweden, Poland, and Germany. He is a founding member of the electroacoustic music performance trio "Sensorband." Since 1995 he is based in Tokyo, Japan where he collaborates closely with japanese avantgarde scene. He has extensively toured in Europe, Asia, North America, South America and Australia and his music has been performed at several festivals

Besides working as a composer of contemporary music he has been collaborating with several experimental groups and artists like: The Hafler Trio, Blixa Bargeld, Merzbow, Stelarc, John Duncan, Aube, Tetsuo Furudate, CCCC, KK Null, Antimatter, Francisco Lopez, Kasper T. Toeplitz, Peter Rehberg, Li Chin Sung and has worked on remixing artists and bands like Iannis Xenakis, Clock DVA, Phauss, Jazzkammer, Florian Hecker, TV Pow, Rechenzentrum, Fred Bigot, Fear of God, Nosei Sakata and The New Blockaders.

He has as well written music for film, video, theatre and dance. His scores are published and distributed by STIM in Sweden and until today he has released more than 100 cds by labels all over the World. He is convinced that it is a responsibility of an artist in the present day to travel and work around the World in order to learn and understand different cultures and traditions and discover truth about ourselves and our planet. He also strongly believes that geographical, political and social exile is a necessary condition for true and honest creation. He is not interested in the traditional definition of music, in his opinion, all musical theory and systems as cultural concepts must be destroyed. In his latest work, his main concern is to realize drama with sound - electronic and acoustic walls with the architectures of ruins transcribed in the scores.

Brian O’Reilly
Brian O’Reilly works within the fields of electro-acoustic composition, moving images and noise music. Also he is a contrabassist focusing on uncovering the inaudible textures and hidden acoustic microsounds of his instrument through the integration of electronic treatments and extended playing techniques. He attended the School of the Art Institute of Chicago on a scholarship for sculpture during which time he perused independent studies in improvisation and composition with members of Chicago’s AACM. After which he relocated to Paris to research the composition methods of the composer Iannis Xenakis, receiving a appointment as Musical Assistant at Xenakis’ studio. He pursued graduate studies in Electronic Music at the University of California Santa Barbara’s Media Arts and Technology program, where his collaborations with Curtis Roads began with the project “Point Line Cloud” which won an Award of Distinction at Ars Electronica in 2002. As Operations Manager of Recombinant Media Labs in San Francisco He worked on many project for the Asphodel record label & recording studio, and has received several international residencies/commissions including invitations to work as a guest artist at the Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie (ZKM) in Germany, the SH Festival in Shanghai and All Tomorrow Parties festival curated by Autechre in the UK. He has worked on projects with Eliane Radigue, Luc Ferrari, Curtis Roads, Zbigniew Karkowski, Otomo Yoshihide, Matmos, Maryanne Amacher, Zeitkratzer, Christian Marclay, William Basinski, Fe-Mail, Yasunao Tone, Francisco López, Garth Knox, Steina and Woody Vasulka, amongst others. Sin:Ned (Wong Chung-fai), an idiosyncratic improviser, sonic artist, live-visual artist, curator and free-lance writer from Hong Kong. Also co-founder of the experimental imprint Re-Records, member of the electro-acoustic duo No One Pulse, and Advisor of soundpocket.
Being a veteran writer of the legendary Hong Kong alternative music magazine MCB (Music Colony B-Weekly), his writings had influenced a wide spectrum of experimental musicians and listeners. While not writing as a pseudo-music critic elaborating his esoteric worldview, in the same idiosyncratic fashion, he spends much of his time hacking and sculpting sonic materials with his laptop and various non-standard electronic gears. With his on-going experimentation embracing improvisation, noise, errors, chaos and randomness, he has been re-visioning an unorthodox sound-making process expressed in extreme dichotomies, and driven by intuition and direct experience.
He has offered performance and creative work for concert, sound installation, workshop, audio-visual and theatrical performance. He had taken part and performed in various art events such as HK Sound and Vision Festival (2003), Get It Louder (2007), Hong Kong & Shenzhen Biennale of Urbanism/Architecture (2007, 2009), Architecture is Art Festival (2009), Notch Festival 2009 Guangzhou Station (2009).

During my short trip to Thailand had a dinner one evening in Tom Yam Goong Restaurant at Bang Tao Beach. There was this guy with his really old ROLAND JV-50 playing the typical bar songs but in a kind of special way: His voice was very high, but the singing style was a mix between Lou Reed & Alan Vega & all songs played in rather slow tempo - it was quite strange - but somehow very interesting to hear songs like "I will always love you" in this kind of mood - below some pictures:

The one available is volfram, one of the core synth modules of his collection.

" Volfram is semi-modular noise synthesizer and fx-proccesor based on digital 8-bit echo chip Ht-8970.
It can be used as flexible delay/reverb processor, fuzz and complex noise generator. All these fx-capabilitys can be mixed and controlled with much flexibility.

KORG MONOTRON ARRIVED IN HONG KONG

Yesterday found in TOM LEE: The KORG MONOTRON is here now. Selling price HKD 580 - I got it for HKD 551 (approx. USD 70). It is a very nice unit. Using it just with the batteries and the speaker - it sounds like a toy. But hooking it up to some other hardware and speakers it is really powerfull. I hooked it up to the KP3 and the result is great. A video will follow later the next days. Here just a photo - enjoy !

Using the Radias Rack since 8 months. Never looked into the user instruction. Goal now is to change most of the existing pre-sets into something more interesting. The machine is good - the knobs are very sensible. I like it. Here a take with some background noise etc.

Okay - see recent post with this Santigold song. I was wondering what makes Imelda Marcos so much worth making a whole record about her life. Married to a dictator who has abused the people in the country he was ruling for many years. Then running away with a lot of cash and 1,000 pairs of shoes...or maybe I got the message wrong. Anyhow yesterday received an email from David Byrne (personally ? not really you can guess already......). They are promoting this album called:

It was in 1970 that Hideki Matsutake was grabbed by the playback of Walter Carlos's Switched-On Bach using a synthesizer and a computer at the American Pavilion of Expo '70 in Osaka. In June the following year at his age of 19, he makes his first step into professional music as an apprentice to Isao Tomita, providing him the chance of operating one of the few Moog III-P sythesizer units existing in Japan.
Establishing a company of his own named Musical Advertising Corporation (MAC) in 1974, his involvements with new music artists such as Yoshitaka Minami and Akiko Yano started. In 1978 he participated in the production of Ryuichi Sakamoto's first album, Thousand Knives. In the following years between 1978 to 1982, Matsutake served Yellow Magic Orchestra as its sound programmer, eventually to become known as "the fourth member" of the band. He also led sequencing work for numerous Technopop albums by other artists, especially at the beginning of the 80s.
In 1981, Matsutake formed "Logic System" with Makoto Irie, with whom he toured to perform in other Asian countries several times. The unit has released 10 albums to date, 2 out of them released in 8 countries. Its latest album is Tansu Matrix, released in 2008.
Matsutake is currently Chairman of Japan Synthesizer Programmers Association (JSPA)

Super cool - please watch the video. But I have doubts that parts of the video is not original recording - it sounds too perfect. It looks very much like a "make-up"..........but anyhow it is fun.
